The Oklahoma Music Educators Association has named the Casady Philharmonic Orchestra a 2012 Honor Orchestra. The Casady Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 20, at the Tulsa Convention Center.

Selected for the honor by audition, the Casady Philharmonic is the only independent school to receive this distinction and this year marks the second time the school has enjoyed the coveted title since 2002.

“We are so proud of our students,” Larry Moore, Casady Orchestra Director, said. “They are a shining example of what hard work, passion and dedication can produce.”

The orchestra will present an inspiring program that will include "Song of the Liberty Bell" by American composer and violin virtuoso, Mark O’Connor. Casady Celebrates 65 Years
    1/9/2012

This year, Casady School marks 65 years as the premier, independent, college-preparatory school in central Oklahoma. The School is celebrating with various activities throughout the year and will culminate its festivities with a gala on February 18 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

“We are extremely proud of the rich history we possess here at Casady School,” Chris Bright, Head of School, said. “Over the past 65 years, our school has built an excellent tradition of graduating some of the nation’s most effective leaders and top intellectuals. Furthermore, we have been successful at cultivating social consciousness and compassion for mankind within our students, and for that, we are most proud.”

A favorite Anniversary activity has been “Decade Days,” an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to celebrate each decade of Casady’s existence since 1947. On the third Friday of each month, a decade in Casady’s history is celebrated: music from that era is played in the dining hall; parents dress in era-reminiscent clothing; and a small showcase of cars from that time period is on display for students to view.

“We really want this celebration to be fun for all the members and friends of the Casady community,” Kathy Brown, a Casady alumna and co-chair of the Anniversary Committee, said. “We also wanted to make this celebration something that people will remember, because we are so proud of our school and its many accomplishments.”

The 65th Anniversary Celebration will climax with a gala at 6:30 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 18, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The event, which is open to the public, promises to be a fun and elegant affair, complete with a live band and dinner and dancing. Tickets are $100/ per person; registration is now open on Casady’s web site. Other Anniversary activities are listed on the site, as well.
