OSU Legend a Casady Legend as Well
7/29/2010
With the recent passing of legendary OSU Running Back Bob Fenimore, Casady lost a legend as well.  Fenimore was the first football coach in the history of Casady School, compiling a record of 23-4 from 1950-1953.  The school's highest award in football, The Fenimore Award, is named in his honor and recognizes that player who contributes most in character, leadership and competitive excellence.

Fenimore was Oklahoma State's (then Oklahoma A&M's) first All-American football player in 1945 and 1946.  He is described as the "patron saint of OSU football" and finished third in balloting for the Heisman Trophy in 1945.  Fenimore was the first pick in the 1947 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears and played one season.  He retired the following year citing "he could make more money selling life insurance than playing professional football" and returned to his home state.  Fenimore was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972 and to this day, the Bob Fenimore Award at OSU recognizes the football team's most valuable player.

The thoughts and prayers of those at Casady who knew Bob Fenimore, and especially those who played for "Coach Fenimore", are with the Fenimore family.

Casady alumnus Daniel Mitchell won his first professional golf tournament, the Texas Honing Open at the Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland. Daniel, an NAIA champion at Oklahoma City University, won $30,000 after posting a 12-under-par 276 for four rounds. A 20-foot, downhill putt on No. 18 was the difference on the final day as Mitchell beat Jim Renner by one stroke.  Read more on NewsOk.com.  Mitchell was part of the winning team of Aaron Horton '94, Jamon Herndon and Bart Shelley '02 at the Casady Golf Tournament on June 28.
