Letters to the Community
COVID-19 Information
Casady School is carefully tracking information from the Centers for Disease Control, the Department of Health, and all local health officials. We remain in close contact with the other Independent Schools in Oklahoma City, the state, Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC).
Our Health Services Team is ready to serve the needs of our Casady Community. We are certified in “Contact Tracing,” which helps us understand to what extent exposure will be a concern for each positive case. We also have a relationship with Family Healthcare, which has two metro locations and manages the clinic on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Family Healthcare will act as a consultant and has arranged for us to collect COVID-19 samples on campus for a “PCR” test to be sent to their lab partners resulting in a 24-36 hour test result. Additionally, we are researching and exploring more testing opportunities for our community.
It is important that you contact our Health Services Team if anyone in your family tests positive for COVID-19, or if there are concerns about being exposed to or in close contact with a positive case. Please email the Health Services Team at healthservices@casady.org. After notification, we will schedule a call to review protocols, policies, next steps, and to answer any questions you may have.
We understand the concern and uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and are committed to being responsive to the needs of our community.
Currently, the key recommendations from public health agencies to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses are as follows:

- Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover coughs or sneezes.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Community members are encouraged to stay home if they show any signs of respiratory illness or flu-like symptoms.

As the School receives or announces a change in plans to various activities and events, details will be included here.
SPC: All competitive games and spring championships have been cancelled.
OSSAA: All spring activities have been cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Therefore, activities in which Casady School participates have also been cancelled including Band and Orchestra State Contests.
JCL: State convention has been cancelled.
Science Olympiad: State and national competitions have been cancelled.
Naturalization Ceremony: April 2020 Naturalization Ceremony scheduled at Casady and the courthouse have been cancelled.

Upper Division Grandparents Day: Cancelled
Campouts for 7th and 4th grade: Cancelled
Orchestra Trip to Dallas for 7th and 8th grade: Cancelled

For travel in the United States, due to the concern for higher risk of infection associated with traveling in enclosed areas, Casady School students will not participate in any school-sponsored activities that involve public mass transportation such as train, airplane, or bus. Charter bus travel or other forms of travel that only include our community is permissible. Currently, we will continue to participate in our athletic conference, and the conference is currently in discussions about how best to proceed with our events. However, until they make a call differently we are planning to continue to participate and follow their direction.
