Casady School is a community based on a strong foundation supported by many long-standing traditions through its mission of developing excellence, confidence, and integrity in students to prepare them with the skills and knowledge that serve as the foundation for success. Casady’s values and beliefs related to mind, body, and spirit are integral to our mission. Our founders envisioned a School that would offer small classes, personal attention, and worship in an atmosphere fostering healthy competition.

Casady is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools. Our School has also been an active member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference for athletics since 1953, only five years after Casady welcomed its first students to campus. We are proud of our affiliation with the SPC, which is a significant part of the School’s history.

Conference Affiliation Evaluation and Outcome

Casady School's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to authorize the School to apply to the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association for membership and also to negotiate an agreement with the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) to allow Casady to remain an SPC member for purposes of women's Field Hockey and men’s Volleyball.

This conclusion followed a comprehensive review and evaluation of Casady’s Athletics Program. Three years ago, Casady engaged an independent consultant to conduct a thorough analysis of our athletics program. Four main priorities resulted from this audit. The fourth and final recommendation was to evaluate our competitive affiliation. Our strategic athletic and academic pillars, along with data we gathered in this evaluation process, served as the guide for analyzing the School’s competitive affiliation. What emerged through this review were four guiding principles of Wellness, Development, Academics, and Community Engagement, that we filtered our conference affiliation question through as they relate to our student-athletes, our Casady Community, and our programs.

Decisions like these are always grounded in and viewed through the lens of the mission of our School. At the highest level, Casady School’s mission seeks to develop excellence, confidence, and integrity in students and prepare them with the skills and knowledge that serve as the foundation for success. Further supporting the mission, are our beliefs statements that are integral to our motto of mind, body, and spirit. Within our belief statement specific to body, we affirm the important role both athletics and physical education play in living out the mission of our School by specifically addressing the importance of providing healthy and competitive opportunities for our students to develop an appreciation for a lifetime of wellness.

In the School’s nearly 75 years, we have remained true to this belief. Casady School’s Athletics Program has a long and storied history with the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC), as well as periods of competing in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA). Casady was among the first schools to join the SPC in 1953. Today, the SPC is comprised of 17 Independent Schools in Texas and one, Casady, in Oklahoma. During our nearly 70 years in the SPC we have seen the conference go through change, growth, and evolution, and we hold deep respect and gratitude for all that the SPC has been to our School. As you review the video and the Impact Pages below, we hope you gain an understanding of “The Why” behind this conclusion and the extensive evaluation and review process the School undertook to reach this momentous decision.
