Note from Mr. Sheldon: Opening Day is Approaching! | New Faculty!

I write to you today with both excitement and care as we approach our School’s opening this Friday! We acknowledge that this year promises to be one that will test our resolve to maintain our strong sense of community.
Through it all, we are committed to our guiding principles of relationships, safety, and flexibility.

Relationships
We are all excited about your children returning to school to continue their education. It is going to feel different, look different, and the way we do everyday things will be different. What will not change are the relationships our teachers build with your children. Whether in person or through our Long-Term Flex Learning, our teachers are committed to building your children’s trust, which is vital to excellent learning and development.

Safety
All of us want a safe, nurturing, and caring environment for our children, and we believe that we have created such space. It will take all of us, doing our part, to keep our children out of harm’s way of this virus. I ask that, for the good of our community, that you immediately let us know of any person in your family who tests positive for COVID-19. If you travel to destinations where the infection rates are higher than the community we live in, we ask that you assess if your child should self-quarantine. I promise we will make sure your child stays current with their education. Now is not a time for us to play loose with our resolve. Despite their risks, we have teachers who choose to be here to teach your children, so let’s do our part to keep our School safe. Because we love and care for everyone in our community, let’s adopt the mantra, “We’re in this together.” Let’s each do our part to prevent an outbreak in our School community.

Flexibility
Flexibility is paramount as we round the corner and prepare for in-person school to begin this Friday. Based on the work we have done to prepare, and the protocols we have put in place, we expect that we will be able to keep our Lower and Primary Divisions open throughout the year. For the Middle and Upper Divisions, should we need to move to Remote Learning, we are ready to do so quickly. As a strong and committed community, we must be willing to adapt and adjust when the facts on the ground change for our School. My promise to you is that we will do our best to inform you, as timely as possible, when we need the flexibility to change the learning modality.

In closing, I am excited to provide you with a glimpse at the newest Cyclone teachers and staff for the 2020-21 school year. Because we know that our faculty and staff make our School come alive, we spared nothing to find the best teachers we could. This year our incoming class of teachers and staff come from all over the country. We have 15 new faces from New York to San Francisco and everywhere in between. Nine of our new faces have advanced degrees, and all are tenured and experienced teachers from both independent and public schools. I invite you to click on the link below to find short biographies and photographs of our newest members to the Casady Community and our existing team members who have taken on new roles within our great School beginning this school year:

The fall trimester will undoubtedly be one of the most unique in our School’s history. Our Casady faculty and staff, both new and returning, look forward to supporting each other and your children, as we live out our mission in this pandemic year.

Faithfully,

Nathan L. Sheldon
