NextGen Under 30 | 2021 Casady School Honorees

NextGen Under 30 celebrates Oklahoma's up-and-coming community leaders, recognizing their talent, drive, and service. Casady School is proud to announce that five Casady Community members have been selected as 2021 honorees.
Andrew Buchheim, Ph.D.
Upper Division Latin
Dr. Drew Buchheim joined Casady in early fall 2020 as an Upper Division Latin teacher. In his short time at Casady, Dr. Buchheim has been a positive influence with the students and for the School’s classical language curriculum. His teaching experience includes working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri, where he aided professors in teaching Classical Mythology, Ancient Media, Greek Culture, Roman Culture, and The Ancient World on Film. He has also worked as a Graduate Instructor of Record at Mizzou, where he taught Latin at all levels, from basic grammar and vocabulary to reading authentic Classical texts. Dr. Buchheim received his Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was recognized upon graduation with the Undergraduate Achievement in Classics Award. Dr. Buchheim received his Master of Arts in Classical Languages as well as his P.h.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Missouri. He was also a recipient of the Green Chalk Award for teaching excellence.

Elizabeth Bertels
Middle Division Spanish
Elizabeth Bertels is a Spanish teacher in Casady’s Middle Division where she has excelled in providing the students a true love for learning the language. Prior to joining Casady, Ms. Bertels was a Spanish teacher at Hefner Middle School and worked as a Study Coach. She has also served as an interpreter for Peruvian Medical Missions. As a Study Coach, Ms. Bertels created individualized organizational plans for students to prioritize educational goals; introduced new study skills for students to better manage ADHD, anxiety, and various learning disabilities; tutored students in a variety of subjects; reviewed research papers; worked with students to prepare for exams; and created curriculum for ACT preparation courses. Ms. Bertels attended Oklahoma State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Spanish as well as Secondary Education. She is an ACT certified educator in English as a Second Language.

Kimberly Florie
Technology
Kimberly Florie is a member of Casady’s Information Technology Team and serves as a Technology Support Specialist. Ms. Florie has over six years of experience in providing technical and customer support. Before starting at Casady, she was a System Administrator for Brinks Security where she was responsible for maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. She installed hardware and software, and participated in research and development. She also worked as an Information Technology Specialist for the U.S. Army. Ms. Florie's awards and achievements include Army Achievement Medal, Joint Meritorious Award twice, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Inherit Resolve Campaign Medal with Campaign Star. Her qualifications include Security Clearance, A+ Certificate, and Sec+ Certificate.

Amy Knous
Vocal Music
Casady’s Performing Arts Department gained a gifted and talented Vocal Music Teacher when Amy Knous joined the performing arts faculty for 5th-12th grades. Ms. Knous came to Casady from Edmond Sequoyah Middle School where she was the Head Choir Director. Ms. Knous was Choir Director for Midwest City High School, served as Assistant Choir Director for Jenks High School, and was Director and Founder of the Tulsa Youth Opera Singing Essentials. She attended Oklahoma State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Music Education and Texas Tech University and a Master's of Music Education. Ms. Knous is a member of the Central Oklahoma Choral Directors Association, the Oklahoma Music Educator Association, and is Junior High Chair for the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association. She is a cantor and staff singer at Christ the King Church.

Casey Stonestreet
Facilities Team
In his 11 years as a member of Casady’s Facilities and Operations Team, Casey Stonestreet fills a variety of roles to keep Casady's 80-acre campus with 29 buildings up and running. He is primarily a maintenance technician specializing in HVAC, while he serves as a backup and go-to for security, operations, and all facility maintenance. Casey is truly a Cyclone and has incredible institutional knowledge of the School. The students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents have true respect for Casey for all that he does.
