UD Students Adi Bhaktaram and Peter FitzSimons have won the Congressional App Challenge for the 5th District of Oklahoma for their app Pulse. The Congressional App Challenge is the most prestigious prize in student computer science, with winning apps selected by a state's sitting congressmen. Winners have an opportunity to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. and demo their app for elected officials.

Bhaktaram and FitzSimons were approached by Mr. Bottomly to create an app that would allow teachers to quickly collect similar feedback on individual lessons. The students based their app on the feedback given after Peloton workouts, which is concise, targeted, and aggregated to improve performance. Pulse asks students a series of questions about their learning experience, then combines that data and presents it to the teacher in an easy-to-digest way.

Krish Patel was the competitions runner up, with a web app that allows students to exchange textbooks online.
