Focus on Faculty: Andi Dema

Mr. Dema has directed students in multiple productions since coming to Casady, most recently the Upper Division performance of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in November.

Andi Dema is Casady's Theatre Director. He joined the Casady Community in the fall of 2013 after graduating from Oklahoma City University with a theater degree focused on acting. Mr. Dema doesn't just direct theatre, he is also an actor who performs often in productions in the Greater Oklahoma City community. Most recently, Mr. Dema played the roles of Young Scrooge and Scrooge's nephew in Lyric Theatre's month-long run of "A Christmas Carol."

Mr. Dema was born in Albania, and his family moved to Bloomington, Indiana in 1994. In August 2017, Mr. Dema completed the process for naturalization, becoming a full-fledged citizen of the United States. Mr. Sheldon, Mrs. McQuade, and Mrs. Davis were all present for the occasion.
Like any Casady faculty member, the time Mr. Dema shares with his students brings him an enormous amount of joy and happiness. But for Mr. Dema, the real reward comes from seeing each student's progress through the course of rehearsals and performances.

"Seeing them learn," Mr. Dema said. "Seeing them grow. Seeing them succeed, especially on the stage, is just magical."

Mr. Dema encourages members to order tickets and attend the Casady Theatre's upcoming musical performance of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." Performances will be Feb. 22-24. Tickets and additional information can be found by visiting Upcoming Performances.
