Upper Division students look forward to Blue Day, which is a celebration by the Honors Chemistry students who display and celebrate one another’s blue crystals that they spent weeks growing using a copper sulfate solution. Students tend to their crystals in the mornings and during off periods to see who can grow the largest blue crystal.

The faculty member behind this popular annual event is Upper Division Science Chair Julieta Zesiger. She has been a member of the faculty since 1997, and both of her daughters graduated from Casady. Speaking as a parent about her daughters, Christina '14 and Cathy '17, Ms. Zesiger said their experiences at Casady were ideal.

“Not only have they learned a lot, they also had so many fun experiences with good friends in the classroom, in sports, and the arts,” Ms. Zesiger said. “Their teachers and coaches had instilled in them the importance of diligence and perseverance in anything they do.”

Ms. Zesiger loves events that bring the entire campus together like the homecoming pep rally or the Opening Day All School Chapel Service. She enjoys seeing students of all ages interacting and sharing experiences together and sees the impact of Casady’s mission and purpose in those all-school moments.

“I love the sense of family and community at Casady and seeing the younger students all the way up to the older ones all in one place.”
