E. Peter Hoffman

Distinguished Alumni
Independent Business Owner at Hoffman Investments
Oklahoma City, OK

Peter was born and raised in Oklahoma City and attended Casady School, beginning in the fifth grade. Following high school, he received his BA from Southern Methodist University in 1970 with a degree in Marketing. Peter completed his formal education in 1972, receiving an MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management at Arizona State University. During his college years, he spent a year living in Paris in 1967-68, where he focused on intensive language and culture studies while attending the Sorbonne.
Peter entered the business world as a stockbroker in 1974. In 1982, he decided to go on his own, concentrating on personal investments as well as consulting and working to help build numerous emerging small companies. Notable achievements include: helping grow Patterson Energy into the nation’s second largest oil & gas land driller; co-founding and successfully merging Vertec Polymers, a high-performance polymer company; and helping to fund and build the US-based critical minerals exploration company, 3 Proton Lithium.

Peter has always had great respect and appreciation for the arts and education, coupled with a deep love of community. Honoring his personal commitment to give back has been a driving force in his life. His love for Nichols Hills led him to serve on the Nichols Hills City Council from 2007-2025, including being a six-time mayor. He also has a passion for the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, where he has served as a Board Member for sixteen years, being Chairman of the Education Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. Peter served for many years on the Board of Payne Education, a non-profit organization that helps children with dyslexia learn to read, and he co-founded Wilderness Matters in 2012, a non-profit group devoted to enhancing Martin Nature Park in an effort to ensure that people of all abilities can experience nature and the outdoors.

Health and fitness are most important to Peter and absolutely central to his life. As an athlete, he was an All-Conference football player at Casady. He was an avid tennis enthusiast, handball player, and golfer for many years, and was an accomplished cyclist. Pursuing his interest in helping others, Peter became a certified cycling and fitness instructor...teaching for 25 years. In addition, Peter coached a generation of young people in soccer and baseball while his two boys were growing up. Currently, Peter's outdoor passions include fly fishing and hiking.

Peter and his wife, Susan, have been married for 52 years and have two sons, Alec and Drew, both of whom graduated from Casady. Together they have five grandchildren. Peter and Susan are long-time members of All Souls’ Episcopal Church, and absolutely love being a part of their wonderful community. Peter feels deeply honored and grateful to receive this award.
