Survey Data Comparisons Overview | Remote Learning

Dear Parents,

We write today to thank you for continuing to provide informative data around your family's experiences during this time of remote learning. Just like the first surveys, we had very high engagement and received constructive feedback from you (588 responses), from our 6-12th grade students (nearly 100%), and from nearly all our faculty.

While we will provide you with comparison graphs below, we want to also offer you a summary of our salient takeaways from this second round of survey feedback.

  • You continue to trust us in our care for your students (all based on a 5 point scale).
  • On average (4.4), you said we are doing a good job in supporting your children's academic, social-emotional, and technology needs.
  • You indicated that you have a high degree of confidence in our remote learning decisions and changes made from our first iteration of your student's learning remotely - (4.6 and 4.5 respectively).
  • Finally, you placed a high degree of confidence in our helping your students around health and wellness - (4.5).
  • You responded that our communications have been helpful. Similar to the first survey, you indicated that our communications continue to be very effective at 70%. Only 2.6% felt we have not been very effective, which saw an improvement of 19%.
  • Between the first and second surveys, we made minor schedule changes to most of the divisions with a fairly significant change in the Middle Division. With those changes, we continued to see that the workload was very manageable, with the students reporting a slight decrease in manageability.
  • Both you and our students continue to want to see a balance between Synchronous and Asynchronous instruction and work, with preference for Synchronous classroom time.
  • Finally, you continue to feel supported by the School as you partner with us in this remote learning environment - (4.0).
In all, we are grateful for the work you are doing to support your students in their remote learning. As a School, we have always believed that excellent education is like a three-legged stool. Parents, Teachers, and Students each represent a leg, and when we partner together, the stool stands steady, strong, and resilient. As a community, we are grateful for the way you have partnered with us in a new way to continue the learning and growth of your child; thank you!

As we close out the year, we are hopeful that in the fall we can return to a brick and mortar school model. That said, we anticipate that the campus will look different in response to our new C-19 realities. However, these changes will allow us to be together in person. While we have not yet figured out our plan, your feedback, the students' feedback, and our teachers' feedback are clear; community and relationships matter significantly in the calculus of educating your child. We hear you and anticipate a rigorous summer of preparation ahead to make a return to campus a reality. We understand that our work is far from over, and we are grateful to the Casady team of teachers who will continue to press into the good, hard, and hopeful work in front of us to provide your children with a mission-driven educational experience next year.

In addition, we will continue our effort to improve upon our remote learning model to ensure that you and your student will be adequately prepared to seamlessly transition into an online environment if we have a second wave.

As we head into the Summer, we wish you and your family a restful and rejuvenating time together. Our deep hope is that the great challenges we have faced as a community over the past couple months will be a part of the great joy we experience together in the months to come.
