Building a Strategic Path Forward

With the year coming to a close, and our seniors eagerly anticipating Baccalaureate and Graduation, I want to thank you for all your support in navigating an extraordinary school year. "Alone; we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller. On display these past 12 weeks has been a community covenant that affirms, we are stronger together. Thank you!

 

Relationships are the key to any great educational institution. We believe that our teachers build strong relationships with your children. This trust allows children to stretch, grow, and develop into young people who value learning. For that reason, our top priority is to have on-campus school this fall.

 

We have not finished all the details for how we return in August. However, I want to share the work we are doing to ensure that we can return safely to on-campus learning. We have established high-level priorities that will serve as our guiding principles as we form various task forces. Our priorities focus on the value of relationships, safety for both teacher and student, flexibility, and remaining faithful to the academic pillars that have served our students well for the past 73 years. We will do so by listening, iterating, and communicating our progress. You can expect a final iteration of our plans by the end of June or early July. Our promise to you is that we will be sure to keep you informed of our progress.

 

I can also promise that next year will look different from any previous beginning to a school year. Yes, we will have excitement and energy, and yes, parents will be ready to get their children "back to their routines." However, we want to make sure this can all happen safely, and right now, we believe that significant changes are required in the interim until a long-term solution for this virus is developed.

 

We are committed to a safe environment that will allow our teachers and student relationships to flourish. To that end, we will be looking at how we can build safe measures for your children and our teachers. While we may not have all the details yet, some of the measures we are currently considering involve social distancing, temperature checking, potentially mask-wearing at times, and limiting contacts. We will adhere to and follow our local health authorities' mandates and guidance.

 

Finally, we must be willing to be flexible, to iterate as we go along, and be prepared to accept that we may be forced back into distance learning during the year. We will make mistakes, any organization will, it is how we respond that will matter and why we must be willing to be flexible and adapt to an ever-changing environment.

 

Franklin Roosevelt so correctly stated, "We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future." These words have never seemed more true than now as we realize we do not have full control. What we can control is what Casady provides your children - Durable Learning, Student Wellness, Student and Community Engagement, and Skills and Knowledge which will be their tools for navigating the future.
