Parent University for Digital Citizenship and Wellness

Casady parents and students are invited to participate in our April Digital Citizenship Conversations focusing on "Digital Wellness."
Parents who cannot attend their child's division's session are encouraged to join us at the session that fits their schedule. Sessions are led by Dr. Wesley Fryer, Technology Director, and Dr. Marcia Moore, Director of Psychological Services. All events are in the McClendon Middle Division Community Room.

  • Primary and Lower Division: Tuesday, April 10, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Middle and Upper Division: Tuesday, April 24, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

These Parent University sessions are open to both parents and students. We will discuss age appropriate questions touching on topics like:

  • When should children get their own phone?
  • What kinds of limits should we have on our phone use, as children and adults?
  • How can phone and computer use affect our sleep?
  • How can you tell when you're on a screen too much?
  • Is there a difference between screen time activities like playing Minecraft and watching videos?
  • What should we do if we see something online that makes us uncomfortable?
  • How are some Casady students using computers to create digital art and stories?

These are just a few of the questions and topics we will tackle together, talking in small groups with each other and also sharing in a large group. This will be a great opportunity for dialogue with other parents and students about digital wellness and other digital citizenship topics. Resources related to this session are available and will be updated on our Casady Digital Citizenship Conversations website: https://digcit.us/dialog/

At the Primary and Lower Division event on Tuesday, Dr. Fryer anticipates some of our third graders who have been participating in Casady after-school coding classes, will share about some of their projects.
