New Director of Middle Division Announced

Casady School is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Jason D. Scheer to the position of Middle Division Director, effective July 1, 2019.
Dr. Scheer will succeed Elizabeth Larsen, who retired in June 2018 after serving the school faithfully for 22 years. Josh Bottomly, our Associate Head of School for Academics, has done a wonderful job this year as our Interim Middle Division Director, alongside our exceptional Assistant Division Director, Mrs. Sara Zedlitz.

Dr. Scheer comes to Casady with 18 years of Independent School experience, having taught, coached, and worked in administration at Wesleyan School, an independent school in Atlanta, GA. He holds a Doctor of Education from the University of Georgia and earned a Master of Education in Science Education from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Oklahoma.

During his tenure at Wesleyan, Dr. Scheer has taught a range of students and courses. He has taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade religion classes and has served as the Grade Chair for sixth and tenth grades. He has also taught Biology in the high school and currently teaches high school AP Environmental Science.

Dr. Scheer has held several administrative and leadership roles at Wesleyan. First, as the Middle Division Dean of Students, Dr. Scheer learned to communicate with and work with students, parents, and faculty. More recently, he served four years as the Director of Diversity, helping Wesleyan craft their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. Dr. Scheer now serves as Wesleyan’s Director of Strategic Initiatives.

As both teacher and Dean of Students, Dr. Scheer has enjoyed building relationships with the children. He is excited to get started and would like you to know that he is “honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the Middle Division at Casady. Casady's commitment to excellence and its ongoing desire to challenge itself makes this an exciting place to lead.” Dr. Scheer goes on to say, “I look forward to getting to know each of the students, the faculty, and the families very soon. Our whole family cannot wait to jump into the Casady Community next fall!”
