History Senior Seminar Papers of Distinction

Four Cyclones were recognized during Upper Division Chapel for their outstanding writing during History Senior Seminar.
  • Hope Fahler, “No Teenage Taxation”
  • Grace Ferate, “That Sun’s Gonna Shine on Lewis’s Doorstep Someday: The Anti-Black Violence Embedded in the 13th Amendment's Language”
  • Campbell Metcalf, “Significance of Silliness: The Role of Humor in Ancient Greek Art”
  • Madi Salami, “The Progressive Crossroad: The 1912 Election and Its Impact”
Every year, the senior history teachers nominate Papers of Distinction from the fall semester, and the history department selects papers from that pool to recognize during Chapel. These papers set themselves apart in terms of the quality of their research, their clarity, and the cohesion of their overall argument.

They also accomplished one of the greatest goals of a writer: compelling the reader to want to read more.
