Alumni Achievement
Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Anu Bajaj is a highly respected plastic surgeon who is widely recognized for breast surgery and reconstruction skills. Her cosmetic surgery expertise also includes facial surgery, body sculpting, and minimally invasive procedures. In 2007, she returned home to Oklahoma City to join her father, who retired in 2020, in the practice of plastic surgery. She previously served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Cincinnati, as well as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cincinnati.
Anu, with her father at her side, developed a microvascular breast reconstruction program at SSM St. Anthony Hospital in 2007; and for over 10 years, she was one of the few plastic surgeons who performed breast reconstruction using the deep inferior epigastric perforators (DIEP) flap in Oklahoma. In 2007, most plastic surgeons did not offer microsurgical breast reconstruction routinely, especially in the private practice setting. Her success at creating a high volume microsurgical center at SSM St. Anthony Hospital led to her selection as a Visiting Professor for the Plastic Surgery Foundation for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Anu is a highly active member of the plastic surgery community. She has published numerous articles in the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and other medical periodicals; presented at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Annual Meeting and the Plastic Surgery Research Council, and has been an invited speaker for the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgery, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, and other groups.

She has completed the Leadership Academy sponsored by the Oklahoma County Medical Society as well as the Pathways to Leadership program sponsored by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Anu values her relationships with other plastic surgeons across the country, which helps to keep her abreast of the latest developments in the field. Currently, she is also on the Editorial Boards of Plastic Surgery – Global Open and the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is also an oral board examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Previously, she has served as the Chair of the Woman Plastic Surgeons Committee of ASPS, Chair of the Ethics Committee, Chair of the Leadership Development Committee of ASPS, and past Chief Medical Editor of Plastic Surgery News.

After graduating from Casady School in 1987, Anu received her undergraduate degree from Rice University and her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her surgical training at Loma Linda University Medical Center and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. Recently, she completed her MBA at Oklahoma City University. An avid runner, Anu started running as a hobby while at Casady and has completed over 30 marathons. She also enjoys painting and spending time with her family and dogs.
