Across campus, students in Grades 4-8 shifted up to the next grade to spend a part of their day meeting the faculty they will be with next school year and to begin building those important student-teacher relationships ahead of the 2019-20 school year.
Fourth graders were in Middle Division most of the morning meeting the fifth grade faculty team and going through lessons to have a glimpse at what their year next year in a new division will hold.
In Mr. McCarty's science class, fourth graders had a hands-on experience in the lab learning about chemical reactions and creating "elephant toothpaste." And in English class, students read a short story together as Mrs. Scoville guided them through how they will annotate texts next year. To finish out their Middle Division preview, fourth graders had lunch in Calvert with the rest of the Middle Division and had the opportunity to experience the ever-popular salad and deli bars for the first time.
Casady eighth graders were joined by Westminster eighth graders for a day in Upper Division, where they spent a day learning more about everything the Upper Division has to offer. Mr. Bottomly held a trivia contest during his presentation, and Chinese, Spanish, French, and Latin students performed skits in their languages. Eighth graders heard from Department Chairs on course offerings, had ample opportunity to speak with Upper Division students about the pace of life in the division, and saw the rhythm and energy within a day of Upper Division.
