This year, six students enrolled in meteorology chose to go through the Sky Warn training with the National Weather Service in Norman.
These six students are now certified by the NWS as storm spotters, and are only a few high school students to earn this certification.
Everything covered in the certification course is reinforced in the Upper Division meteorology course, which is taught by Greg Zamarripa. From tornado formation, identification, and forecasting, our students learn about the weather conditions for storms and how communities take protective steps in these severe weather situations.
Congratulations to the Sky Warn certified students: Anna Buckley, Anna Meyenberg, Mal Spicer, Liz Wood, Rayna Zeng, and Hallie Reiger!
