Town Hall Recordings | Flex Learning

Dear Casady Community,

I want to extend my sincere appreciation for the many thank yous and great questions that were provided in our five Town Halls held this week. Our goal of the Town Halls was to make sure we provided you with as much information as possible around what your student’s day will look like in each of the divisions for this coming year. Thank you for acknowledging and appreciating the amount of work so many of our faculty and administrators have put in this summer to create a safe, in-person experience for your children.

We know our commitment to a healthy and strong community will be tested this year. We will find times when we simply don’t agree with each other, and I hope we will find in us the ability to respect our differences and embrace the many similarities we share. To that end, I know that many Independent Schools in Oklahoma and around the country are asking parents to sign a waiver of liability to return to school. Because we believe we are all in this together, we will not. We will ask that you acknowledge that you know there are risks in bringing your child to School, however, It is NOT a waiver of liability. Great communities work together, not to avoid blame, but rather to build lasting partnerships towards a common goal. So yes, we will acknowledge there are some risks, and we will also, confidently and thoughtfully proceed into this year recognizing that we are in this together.

Let’s focus on us, and let’s not allow the challenges of this year to divide us. Now, more than ever, we need to focus on relationships, safety, and maintaining flexibility. I know we can, and we will, get through this challenging time together. There may be times when it will be hard not to engage in, “did you know? or did you hear?” I ask that this year, more than ever, we not participate in these types of conversations. Let’s also agree that we will all do our part to keep our community healthy and safe. To that end, if you or your child has been exposed to COVID-19 or is exhibiting symptoms, please let us know by notifying our School Nurse, Mindy Moss. For the good of our community when you either have a confirmed case or have symptoms, please stay home, let our nurse know, and allow us to educate your child from home until it is safe to return in-person.

Finally, if you were not able to attend our Town Halls this week or, if you would like to have your children opt into Long Term Flex Learning for the Fall Trimester please click here. You will need to log in to MyCasady to be able to either watch each of the Town Hall recordings, sign up for the Long Term Flex Learning option, or review some of the documents we believe will be helpful in your decision process. Because Long Term Flex Learning is different from in-person learning, please make sure you watch the Flex Learning Town Hall for more details and read both the FAQs and Family Commitment before signing up. In order to help our teachers to prepare, we ask that you complete this election by Sunday, August 2 at noon.

For the majority of you, you will not need to do anything. Just enjoy these last few weeks with the kids and start to prepare them for another great year of growth and development. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the Division Directors directly, they will be happy to work with you.

We are stronger together!

Faithfully,

Nathan L. Sheldon
