  • Upper Division Dean of Student Experience

    Casady School seeks an inaugural Upper Division (grades 9-12) Dean of Student Experience. Qualified applicants will have had demonstrated success working as a Dean of Students, coach, and/or teacher.

    The Dean of Student Experience will work with others to manage and schedule student responsibilities and activities in such a way that promotes and champions student wellness. These student responsibilities and activities include significant course assignments and due dates, guest speakers, community service opportunities, field trips, class meetings, Advisory meetings, fine arts performances, sporting events, etc.

    The Dean of Student Experience will not only offer students positive reinforcement when they do the right things but also discipline students when they make poor choices.

    Structure:
    Reports directly to the UD Director.

    Reports as necessary to the Head of School and the Associate Head of School for Academics.

    Works closely with the Academic Dean to schedule events.

    Works closely with Communications Team to publicize scheduled events.

    Communicates regularly with the Associate Dean of Students.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Serves on:
    • UD Administrative Team (with UD Director, Academic Dean, and Associate Dean of  Students)
    • UD Admission Committee
    • UD Advisory Committee
    Maintains a presence in the classroom (e.g. teaches one section and/or coaches one sport).

    Attends regularly scheduled meetings with:
    • Admin. Team
    • UD Department Chairs
    • Enrollment Management Committee
    • Psychological Services Team (Director of Psychological Services, MD/UD School Counselor, and UD Learning Specialist)
    • Casady Parents' Organization Grade Representatives
    Meets as necessary with:
    • Athletic Director
    • Vicar
    • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator
    • UD Director of Student Activities and Service Learning
    • Building Monitors
    • Class Sponsors
    • Student Council Sponsors and/or Student Council
    • Club Sponsors and Officers
    • Honor and Discipline Committee
    Works with the Academic Dean, Athletic Director, Fine Arts Department Chair, and the Director of Student Activities to schedule events and activities.

    Coordinates with Fine and Performing Arts staff to plan and attend the annual ISAS Fine Arts Festival.

    Coordinates with Athletic Director to ensure administrative presence at SPC championship weekends.

    Focuses on students in grades 11 and 12 and works with the Associate Dean of Students, who focuses on students in grades 9 and 10.

    Visits classrooms regularly.

    Determines consequences for student infractions and  ensures that the UD Administrative Assistant keeps accurate records.

    Visits with parents, either in person or by phone, when a student has made a poor decision for which there are consequences or when a student seems to be struggling with personal or social issues.

    Writes, with input from the UD Admin. Team, a Contract for Success for any student who needs one.

    Supervises the UD Administrative Assistant.

    Attends and monitors student behavior at as many evening and weekend events as possible.

  • Upper Division Associate Dean of Students

    Casady School seeks an inaugural Upper Division (grades 9-12) Associate Dean of Students. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated success working with middle or high school students as a teacher and/or coach. The Associate Dean of Students will work closely with the Dean of Student Experience and will focus primarily on freshmen and sophomore students.

    Structure:
    Reports as necessary to the UD Director.

    Reports directly to and communicates regularly with the Dean of Student Experience.

    Serves on:
    • UD Administrative Team (with UD Director, Dean of Student
    • Experience, and Academic Dean)
    • UD Admission Committee
    • UD Advisory Committee
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Maintains a presence in the classroom (e.g. teaches two sections and/or coaches two sports).

    • Enrollment Management Committee
    • Psychological Services Team

    Manages by walking around the UD campus: commends students when they’re doing what they should be doing and kindly admonishes students when they aren’t, and models for teachers best practices regarding student discipline.

  • Upper Division Computer Science (and Mathematics) Teacher

    Casady School invites applications for the position of Upper Division Computer Science (and Mathematics) teacher to begin in August 2020. The successful candidate will be able and willing to teach all levels of computing and Computer Science, from introductory-level concepts (e.g. flow chart design, coding, and web page design) to object-oriented programming and encryption. The successful candidate will have expertise and facility in current and useful computer languages (e.g. python, java, javascript, PHP, Swift, C++, etc.).

    The Computer Science world changes rapidly and sometimes unpredictably; therefore, the successful candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching students the skills necessary to thrive in this rapidly changing field: abstract thinking, attention to detail, collaboration, problem-solving, etc.

    A candidate’s ability and willingness to teach Mathematics courses will be a plus, including Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus, as well as Geometry and Honors Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus 1 and 2, Honors Pre-Calculus 2, Calculus AB and BC, and Statistics, including AP Statistics.

    Teachers at Casady have extra duties, including but not limited to: monitoring one or two rows of students in daily Chapel, conversing with nine students at a family-style lunch table, and proctoring Study Halls. The successful candidate will also contribute to the life of Casady’s Upper Division. The willingness and ability to coach at least one sport would be a plus. We seek a flexible, dynamic, and creative colleague to assist in meeting the curricular needs of present and future students. Candidates need to be committed to teaching in a vibrant and growing independent school community. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.

  • Middle/Upper Division Violin/Viola/Music Teacher

    Casady School invites applications for the position of MD/UD (grades 5-12) Violin/Viola/Music Teacher to begin August 2020.

    The successful candidate will be able and willing to prepare students for a variety of performances, from individual recitals to ensembles and Chamber Orchestra concerts.

    The successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable working with individual students and with larger groups.

    The successful candidate will also be able and willing to prepare students for performances in a variety of venues--both on campus, in our Chapel and in Fee Theater, and off campus, at the annual ISAS Fine Arts Festival and, once every four years, overseas.

    Teachers at Casady have extra duties, including but not limited to: monitoring one or two rows of students in daily Chapel, conversing with nine students at a family-style lunch table, etc.

  • Upper Division Mathematics Teacher

    Casady School invites applications for the position of Upper Division Mathematics teacher to begin in August 2020. The typical course load is four sections, two preps. The successful candidate will be able to teach Geometry and Honors Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus 1 and 2, Honors Pre-Calculus 2, Calculus AB and BC, and Statistics, including AP Statistics. The ability and willingness to teach Linear Algebra and Multivariable
    Calculus would be a plus.
