Dear Cyclone Boys’ Soccer Players and Supporters,
This year, Casady’s 75th Anniversary, has been especially meaningful to me as I reflect on my nearly 60 years with the School, 28 of those years were spent coaching boys’ soccer. As I consider what the future holds for Cyclone Athletics and our soccer program, I couldn’t be more excited about the direction of the School. When I came to Casady in 1964, Dr. Woolsey asked me to coach soccer, I never expected to lead nearly 300 players until 1992. We ran a lot in practice and scored 5 SPC Championships, all thanks to your dedication to our team and the program.
During the past year since Casady announced the unanimous decision by the Board of Trustees to authorize the School to apply for membership in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA), the administration and board have been assessing the needs of our Athletic Department to support the development, wellbeing, and strength of our student-athletes. What has emerged as a priority is furthering the focus on core body strength and training.
To that end, I am very excited about a lead gift from the Mathis family to build a nearly 6,000-square-foot Strength Training and Conditioning Facility, guided by the School’s Master Plan, that will include, not only additional space to Bennett Athletic Center, but also the equipment, technology, and programming.
I invite you as soccer alums to join me in supporting this project by making a gift to the School. I have created a 1:1 matching $150,000 gift opportunity to the Strength Training and Conditioning Facility, which many other schools already have. Stemming from the Mathis family’s lead gift, we have now reached over 60% of the funding for this facility with approximately $1 million left to raise. Head of School
Nathan Sheldon, Board Chair Jenee Naifeh Lister, Director of Campaigns
Matthew Cloud, or Director of Institutional Advancement
Betty Jane Garrett, will be reaching out to you soon.
All my best,
