Academics

Lower Division (1-4)

The design of the Casady Curriculum moves students thoughtfully and intentionally in support of our Portrait of a Graduate with the goal of inspiring young people to become individuals possessed with a conviction to honor, to learn, to engage, to innovate, to serve, and to thrive.
The Lower Division continues the school principles of respect and opportunity for each child to grow in mind, body, and spirit.
The curriculum is based on the core disciplines of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.  In addition, students have Spanish language instruction, Art, Music, and PE.  A primary goal in Lower Division is to strengthen the academic skills that the students will need as they transition to the Middle Division.  There is also a significant emphasis placed on emotional and social growth which is integrated into subject areas.
Through the philosophy, principles, and practices of Harvard’s Project Zero, teachers take an inquiry-based approach, utilize class discussions, assess through various modalities, and include problem-and-project based learning. Chapel presentations and weekly Bible classes help children learn lessons about character and social responsibility.
