Coach Lane Selected for U.S. Women's Masters Team
Varsity Field Hockey Coach Carla Gasbarra Lane '91 has been selected as a member of the O-40 U.S. Women’s Masters Teams to represent the United States at the 2018 FIH Masters World Cup.
The teams were announced by USA Field Hockey. The biennial tournament is being held at the Club Egara in Terrassa, Spain from July 27 to Aug. 5, with more than 140 national teams expected to compete in age categories from Over-35 to Over-55. Team USA is sending five U.S. Women’s Masters National Teams in the O-35, O-40, O-45, O-50, and O-55 age divisions.
Selection was extremely competitive with six trials held on both the east and west coasts. Performance at the trials was evaluated, with an alternative video, interview, and reference assessment available for those unable to attend any of the trials. Extended squads were named in September 2017, and four additional practices were held in December and January before naming the final team rosters, accordng to the announcement.
This is an incredible opportunity for Coach Lane to represent the United States and Casady School on an international level. She has been Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach for the Cyclones since 2007 and has served as Director of Recreation and P.E. teacher for first through eighth grades. For the United States Field Hockey Association, Coach Lane has been a National Futures Championship Coach 2011-15, Oklahoma Site Coach since 2007, and Head Coach and Site Coordinator since 2011. Her accreditations and experience during her career are extensive. Coach Lane played field hockey at DePauw University and coached there. Her career head coaching record is 223-131-20. At Casady her record is 143-82-20 with an SPC Division 1 Championship in 2013.
