First Graders Receive Personal Bibles

Monday, Sept. 19, was an important day for our Cyclone first graders!
During Chapel, in front of the Lower Division and loved ones, they received a personal copy of the Bible, a book that will travel with them around the lake and beyond.

Our Lower Division’s religious education includes weekly Bible class in addition to daily Chapel. Students consider ideas of love and community as they pertain to their own lives. Classes are intended to be sensitive to all faiths and denominations.

Our Middle Division Bible curriculum is a four-year closer reading of the larger arc of the Jewish and Christian Scriptures. This class introduces some of the more complex contextual elements of religious studies, introduces interpretive skills, and attempts to strike a balance between a devotional reading and an academic skills approach.

Upper Division students attend daily Chapel where a wide variety of topics are covered; from Christian theology and devotion, education on inter-faith and world religions, the celebration of service to the community, as well as compassionate ethics and morality.
