When he graduated in 2004, he received a commission in the Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant. At the Marine Corps Basic School, he was named to the Commanding General’s Honor Roll.
After infantry officer training, Erik deployed as the third platoon commander for Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), participating in Operation Steel Curtain and Iron Hammer. He received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device for his actions during this deployment.

During active duty, Erik also deployed to Okinawa, Japan, and participated in military exercises throughout the Asia-Pacific region as the Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer. In April 2008, he was assigned to Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) where he was responsible for the staffing of more than 30,000 positions including all recruiting, drill instructor and embassy security roles. He was promoted to Captain in June 2009. He continued to serve in this capacity until he left active duty in June, 2010.

While transitioning from active duty, Erik earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Finance from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland College Park. After leaving the Marine Corps, Erik joined the advisory practice of Deloitte where he worked with an international healthcare research institute to streamline their processes resulting in reduced operating costs for the client.

After graduate school, Erik was recruited to join Raytheon Corp.’s Finance Executive Development Program. During the program Erik worked as a finance manager on various projects, including restructuring a European subsidiary, which resulted in equity and sales increases in South American and Asian markets; evaluating acquisition targets; modeling pricing strategies of key competitors; and partnering with the business development and engineering functions to increase the competitiveness of proposals.

In July of 2013, Erik assumed his current role as Chief Financial Officer of Raytheon Solipsys, an international software company, specializing in the design and development of command, control, and visualization software.

Erik is also still active in the Marine Corps Reserve, serving as the Executive Officer of Company D, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and was selected for promotion to Major in May of 2014.

Erik currently resides in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife Kathryn, who works as a Management Consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. He is an active member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
